Visit of Professor Arieh Iserles (University of Cambridge) at FMPI

On November 13th, 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting a remarkable guest - Professor Arieh Iserles from the University of Cambridge (Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics) visited the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the University of Gdańsk.

Our guest took part in a morning meeting organized for the Institute of Mathematics, led by the Vice-Dean for Research and Internationalization, Dr. hab. Błażej Szepietowski, Prof. UG. The Vice-Dean delivered a presentation on the research potential of the mathematics discipline.

Following the meeting, Prof. Iserles gave an open lecture titled How To Write a Paper, aimed at supporting researchers and students in the process of academic writing.

Prof. Iserles serves as an editor for numerous prestigious mathematical journals, including: Acta Numerica, IMA Journal of Numerical Analysis, Transactions of Mathematics and its Applications, and Foundations of Computational Mathematics. He is also the Chair of the Expert Council for Research Development at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of the University of Gdańsk. His research interests include various aspects of numerical solutions of differential equations and other areas of computational mathematics.
